Unlock Your Child’s Creativity with a “Pocket” Sculpture!

Transform upcycled cardboard into a cool 3D masterpiece! In this engaging lesson, your child will learn to design, cut, and intersect shapes to build a unique sculpture that can be taken apart and reassembled for fun exploration. I've taught this lesson for years when I was in the art room! My students LOVED taking the sculpture apart and putting it in their pocket to carry back to class!

Simple Supplies: THIN upcycled file folder, or cereal box, or other thin cardboard, scissors, and pencil. Markers can add nice decorative details. Washi Tape is pretty cool too but totally unnecessary for the success of this project (I never used it in my art classroom - too many kids!)

What’s Included (Everything Needed for Success):

Ready-to-Go Resources: supply & resource list, easy-to-follow directions, and inspiring examples of famous sculptures, art vocabulary, fun word search, and a personalized Artist Statement to build confidence.
Celebration: A Certificate of Completion to honor their artistic achievement!
Skill Building Video Modules: Clear video demos teach "What is Sculpture?", "Sculpture Around the House", "David Smith, American Master Sculptor", and "Let's Talk about Geometric and Organic Shapes". Full project demonstrations take the artist step-by-step from "Supplies & Scissor Safety", to "Let's Create" and "It's Your Turn".
